Happy Friday! Just wanted to send off two quick notes to the kind readers of this newsletter -
First, The Pulp Fictioneer is undergoing a soft reboot. While I’ll still be covering my path to becoming a pulp writer and sharing my updates (weekly or monthly release TBD), it’s my goal this year to get back to the simple roots of this stack.
Starting next week, I’ll be covering a lot about the pulp writers of the 20s, 30s, and 40s offering:
Mini-biographies (or Pulp Profiles) of several writers who worked during the pulp era
Articles/Writing tips (See my article This Fiction Business: A Review as an example)
This will be a blend of history, study, and craft advice from some of the most prolific commercial writers that are almost forgotten. Plus some commentary from myself and practical application of the tips to my own work. Should be fun and educational.
Second, I have a new short story published today in Pulp, Pipe, & Poetry Magazine.
Click the link below to read Quota, a tale of Corpo Dread and dystopic terror.
If you enjoyed this story or my fiction in general, be on the lookout for my new short fiction collection Grind: And Other Strange Stories coming out next Friday, September 22.
More details to come. Below you can read the blurb.
Behind the walls of the corporate highrise, the human spirit is bound and subjected to a slow excruciating death in the name of ROI projections, quarterly business reviews, and endless virtual team meetings.
They say it’s a grind.
Dive into a collection of five strange and unsettling tales of Corpo Dread. Embark on a journey through the twisted corridors of a world where:
Corporate interviews take on supernatural influences
A workaholic analyst doing whatever it takes to secure his promotion
The dystopic and brutal contest among HR recruiters desperate to meet quota
And more!
These short stories will leave you questioning the cost of surrendering oneself to the relentless demands of the corporate world, where everyone has a price to pay.
