March 2023 Notes
Notes from the Fiction Factory - Short Month in Review in 300 words
This is a short recap of March.
Three months into the year and I am already behind in terms of writing fiction and articles. Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with details! 80% of March was spent on the job hunt and fatherly duties.
BUT….
I was able to pen a short story of 1,250 words for The Soaring Twenties Social Club that was published last month titled, Head Count. That is a win in my book!
“The economy went south. He lost his income, his apartment, girlfriend, and whatever moral virtue he had left in him….Eight months of rejections and failed interviews were enough to make any penniless man desperate.”
You can read it below:
Last month, writer Harvey Stanbrough launched a new personal challenge for writing a short story a week and invited readers of his blog to participate if they were up for the challenge. I threw my hat in and so far I’m on track to hit my second week. You can read more about the challenge on Harvey’s blog, The (Almost) Daily Journal
Fun Stuff
Last night, I watched the PBS documentary AMERICAN MASTERS | Edgar Allan Poe: Buried Alive. Quite well done and Denis O’Hare plays a wonderful Poe. If you like documentaries, I think you’ll enjoy this.
Well, that’s all folks (told you it would be short). I’m back to reading, writing, and practicing storytelling.
Have a great weekend, and Happy Easter tomorrow!
‘Till next time!
Thanks for the mention, Frank.
Head Count was tremendous. Proud to be able to provide an outlet for it.
