Happy Sunday, dear reader.
We’ve had a lot of new subscribers come in the last few weeks. Welcome! If you were meaning to subscribe to the Pulp, Pipe, & Poetry, the variety magazine, just follow the link below.
I wanted to take a moment and give a quick update on the newsletter going forward. This coming week I’ll be putting together some Pulp Profiles: short bios covering pulp writers (both known and perhaps forgotten) each armed with their bibliography and perhaps some lessons on writing craft. I love learning about the great pulpsters and their work. If you’re a writer, a fan of the pulps, or love random history, you’ll enjoy these.
Next, I wanted to share some cool stuff for any writers that may be reading this.
Writing in Public
Some readers know I’m a massive fan of Harlan Ellison and have talked about his days of writing a short story in public. He’d be delivered a prompt, an opening line or theme to get started, sit in a bookstore and hammer away on a manual typewriter. Each page would then be put up on the store window for people to read. Within a few hours, Ellison would finish a story. See more of this clip below:
I wanted to give readers a chance to follow prolific fiction writer,
write his latest novel “in public”. He’s announced a new subtack where he will upload his chapters for readers to enjoy. Harvey is a great writer and an excellent teacher of the craft. I’ve been lucky enough to learn many things from him.See more below:
Path to Mastery
I’ve written this before but
has is created a special challenge for all you fiction writers called The 10M Project. He is on the decade road to mastery and plans to write ten million words of fiction. He has opened the challenge to other writers to jump in. This is a pubic challenge too. Your word count will be reported by Brady. Every little bit counts. If you’re interested or want to read more about this cool challenge then read below.
New Collection
I’ve started to put together a new collection of short stories titled, Numbing Glass: And Other Strange Stories. Thes 6-7 stories will be similar in tone to my first collection, Grind. Each story tackless the theme of nostalgia and the dangers of longing for the past.
My goal is to have it in both ebook and paperback by early November 2023. Here’s a preview of the cover.
That’s all folks. As always, a big thank you to the readers of this newsletter. I appreciate every one of you. Thanks for reading and have a great week.
Till next time.
